Review
This is official description
Tropico 3 is a strategy game for Windows computers. The game itself focuses more on the economy side of a city than on war and conquering other players. This has always been so for the Tropico series. You play the role of President of a tropical island (Cuba?) and are thought to have some communist ties. You are to select from a range of characters to be the President. Each one of them has pluses and minuses, so some will be better seen by the population but the US will not like them as much and some will be the opposite.

It all comes down to what you want to achieve while you are in Office. You have to exploit the natural resources of your country, and there are lots of those. You get to lay down the streets and the factories that export goods so that you can have more money to build more.
The game feels very good. Moving the cameras and creating buildings is very easy. When you are about create a building (for harvesting resources), the areas in which the harvesting will be more beneficial turn green, so you know where to place them. There are many different factors that influence the economics of the island and your every decision will play a very big role.
However, there isn't much help about all that. The game really boils down to trial-and-error. And, in my case, I get easily bored after failing a couple of times. Perhaps a better tutorial or even in-game help would come a long way into making this game easier to play. If you played the first Tropico game, you shouldn't really have any problems with this. Graphically at least, the game is excellent. |
- Great-looking.
- Lots of different economical and political aspects to the game.
- It's fun to see the city grow.
|
- Not all the aspects of the game are well explained. There is a lot of trial and error involved, a lot.
